The Tree Lighting Festival is produced by the North City Business Association in partnership with the North City Neighborhood Association and the North City Water District. Generous in-kind contributions have been made by the local Les Schwab, and North City Business Association members including Golden Bow Gifts and Flowers, and Center for Human Services.

Let's Get Moving: Shoreline North / 185th Street Station opening celebration (banner)

Join us Friday, August 30 from 4 – 8 pm as the North City Neighborhood Association officially launches the Shoreline North / 185th Street Link Light Rail Station. Start your Labor Day weekend with a celebration right here in North City!

Walk, bike, or ride to the new station and grab a free Orca card to board the 1 Line. Food vendors, community partners, music, dance, and celebration will fill the space.

  • Dance Performances from Shorecrest and Shorewood Hip Hop teams, Mak Fai Lion Dance, and BOOTS! — a '60s Go-Go Dance Party. DJ Kurt Bloch and Emcee Troy Nelson from KEXP will keep the energy strong throughout the evening.
  • Lime will be on hand to offer scooter and bike demos and will be handing out free helmets.
  • Enjoy foods from local vendors such as La Liath Bakery, Mellow Yellow Thai, Nata Seattle, Geni's Ethiopian, Chick 'N Fix, El Mammamia, Taco Cortes, and Dippy's Ice Cream
  • Sound Transit will deploy a team of ambassadors to assist with Orca cards and answer questions about Link. Metro and Community Transit will also be ready to talk about transit integrations at our newest multi-modal hub.
  • A $1 book sale from Friends of Shoreline Library, and a special transit-themed exhibit from the Shoreline Historical Museum
  • A craft marketplace of clothing and jewelry, including High Vibe Designed & Burnout Boss, Salaheddine Serrhini, and Forever Beauty Jewelry
  • Learn from Commute Seattle about transit options, plus Shoreline Tool Library will be on hand to offer free bicycle inspections.
  • Hello There You event photography will provide a selfie booth and a roaming photographer to capture your memories and send them directly to your phone.

All 4 new stations (Shoreline South, Shoreline North, Mountlake Terrace, and Lynnwood) will be celebrating their grand openings, so hop on the train and check out the other new stations while you’re at it. This landmark event will only happen once – show up and make history in Shoreline!

Volunteers make this all possible! We will have plenty of low-impact shifts and opportunities to help out. All volunteers will receive a commemorative tee shirt and a $20 food voucher. Sign up here to be part of this unique event!

The City of Shoreline recently completed the reservoir lid at the Pump Station on 185th and 10th Ave NE. It's a great little park and gives us an excuse to celebrate the start of summer.

Join NCNA and meet your neighbors. Learn about our plans for summer and beyond. We'll have Otter Pops for the young and young at heart.

John Featherstone and Christie Lovelace, Shoreline City staff, will be there to answer questions about the Pump Station's upgrades and stormwater management.

Get a Free Tree for Your Property!

Eligible Shoreline residents can apply to receive free trees through Trees for Shoreline, a pilot program aimed at growing and maintaining a healthy urban forest.

Trees are important for a healthy Shoreline. They provide a wide range of benefits to our environment, homes, and properties! When you participate in Trees for Shoreline, you receive:

  • Help with selecting the right tree and planting location
  • A watering bag and mulch for your tree
  • Training on proper planting and care
  • Ongoing care reminders
  • Planting assistance (on a limited basis due to volunteer availability)

The application period for Trees for Shoreline is open until August 15. There is a limit of one free tree per household. Depending on tree availability and program interest, not everyone who applies will receive a tree.

North City Holiday Tree Lighting

We invite you to the 21st annual North City tree lighting event. Bring the whole family to Les Schwab at 180th & 15th Ave NE to help light the 25 foot “tree” on top of the North City water tower.

There will be live music and children can have their pictures taken with Santa. Coffee and other refreshments will be provided to help keep you warm, so don’t let the weather keep you from coming out.

We will be collecting non-perishable food items for Hopelink.
