Santa will be back in North City this year for the North City Tree Light Festival!

This year’s festival will once again feature fun for the entire family, including live music, warm beverages, and photos with Santa Claus. We hope to see you all there!

Please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Les Schwab’s Toy Drive on the night of the event. Here are a few ideas:

• Infant Gifts: plush animals, sensory and developmental toys
• Gifts for Kids ages 3-10: books, games, puzzles, art kits or supplies, science kits, Legos, soccer balls or basketballs, dolls or toy trucks, plush animals
• Gifts for Teens: sports equipment, board games, science kits, art supplies, gift cards for clothing or music stores

The Tree Lighting Festival is produced by the North City Business Association in partnership with the North City Neighborhood Association and the North City Water District. Generous in-kind contributions have been made by the local Les Schwab, and North City Business Association members, including Gabbert Architects/Planners, and the Around the Sound Community Band.

The 17th annual North City Jazz Walk will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025

In addition to up-close-and-personal live jazz performances inside seven cozy local venues, this year’s event will include two large, free outdoor venues — one sponsored by the North City Neighborhood Association.

This is the 17th year of the NCJW and the NCNA is proud to contribute to the local event. One of the most important ways we help is to draw on the enthusiasm of our neighborhood to help staff this all-volunteer event on the big day.

We've outlined the different roles on this convenient signup form. Volunteering is a fun way to get connected to your community, and North City is blessed with neighbors, generous with their energy, that help make this a great place to live.

15th Ave NE will be closed from 175th to 179th, so plan ahead.

The 16th annual North City Jazz Walk will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024

In addition to up-close-and-personal live jazz performances inside seven cozy local venues, this year’s event will include two large, free outdoor venues — one sponsored by the North City Neighborhood Association.

Join us Friday, August 30 from 4 – 8 pm as the North City Neighborhood Association officially launches the Shoreline North / 185th Street Link Light Rail Station. Start your Labor Day weekend with a celebration right here in North City!

Walk, bike, or ride to the new station and grab a free Orca card to board the 1 Line. Food vendors, community partners, music, dance, and celebration will fill the space.

• Dance Performances from Shorecrest and Shorewood Hip Hop teams, Mak Fai Lion Dance, and BOOTS! — a '60s Go-Go Dance Party. DJ Kurt Bloch and Emcee Troy Nelson from KEXP will keep the energy strong throughout the evening.
• Lime will be on hand to offer scooter and bike demos and will be handing out free helmets.
• Enjoy foods from local vendors such as La Liath Bakery, Mellow Yellow Thai, Nata Seattle, Geni's Ethiopian, Chick 'N Fix, El Mammamia, Taco Cortes, and Dippy's Ice Cream
• Sound Transit will deploy a team of ambassadors to assist with Orca cards and answer questions about Link. Metro and Community Transit will also be ready to talk about transit integrations at our newest multi-modal hub.
• A $1 book sale from Friends of Shoreline Library, and a special transit-themed exhibit from the Shoreline Historical Museum
• A craft marketplace of clothing and jewelry, including High Vibe Designed & Burnout Boss, Salaheddine Serrhini, and Forever Beauty Jewelry
• Learn from Commute Seattle about transit options, plus Shoreline Tool Library will be on hand to offer free bicycle inspections.
• Hello There You event photography will provide a selfie booth and a roaming photographer to capture your memories and send them directly to your phone.

All 4 new stations (Shoreline South, Shoreline North, Mountlake Terrace, and Lynnwood) will be celebrating their grand openings, so hop on the train and check out the other new stations while you’re at it. This landmark event will only happen once – show up and make history in Shoreline!

Volunteers make this all possible! We will have plenty of low-impact shifts and opportunities to help out. All volunteers will receive a commemorative tee shirt and a $20 food voucher. Sign up here to be part of this unique event!
