Last month, a cleanup event was held at the site of the proposed North City Station. About 100 neighbors, recruited by the North City Neighborhood Association, Urbanist Shoreline, Salvation Artists & Makers Collective, and the City of Shoreline, joined forces for a work party that made a solid impression and a tangible improvement to the vacant site. The Shoreline Tool Library brought tools, equipment, and even more volunteers to help the effort.

We're grateful for all the partners and community members that volunteered their time and energy to organize and participate in this event! Shoreline Mayor Betsy Robertson, Washington State Senator Jesse Salomon; both of whom have demonstrated support for this project, showed up with gloves on, ready to help. At least 3 full containers of waste and several truckloads of vegetation were cleared from the site.

The project has a ways to go before becoming realized, but the strong support of the community creates positive momentum. It also saves the city precious capital resources required to make North City Station a reality. There will be more opportunities to continue this work. We hope you can join us!

This month's North City Meetup will be at the historic North City Lounge on 15th and 177th. We've moved the meetup event to the third Wednesday of each month. We will meet at the NC Lounge on April 15, May 20 and June 17, then rotate the venue to support different North City businesses.

Each month, the NCNA hosts an informal meetup. No business agendas – just a chance to meet neighbors and chat about our neighborhood. We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about NCNA activities, get the "word on the street” about business developments or city plans for North City, and maybe relive our favorite moments from the Super Bowl or hopes for this year’s Mariners team. The main thing is to connect in person!

The new night for the social will be the third Wednesday of each month. This month, we will be at Sodam Chicken. Guests are responsible for their own food and beverage tabs. All ages are welcome, and alcohol-free beverages are served. No purchase required to attend.

North City Station, a new public gathering spot, is coming soon to the site of the old lawn mower shop at NE 185th & 10th NE!!!! This currently vacant site, adjacent to North City’s Rotary Park and near the 185th Street Link Station, will soon become a temporary public space for events, food trucks, art, and culture. But first, it needs a serious glow-up!

Join the North City Neighborhood Association, Urbanist Shoreline, Salvation Artists and Makers Collective, the City of Shoreline, and many of your neighbors for a spring cleanup volunteer event at this future community hub.

There’s a lot of work to do, but we’ll make it fun! We will provide tools and cleaning supplies, coffee, and snacks. Come get your hands dirty and celebrate the awesome community space that's coming soon!
